The way we do our transcription is a bit different than traditionally done
This not only saves time for the doctor, eliminating the need to type out a new note for each visit, but is also beneficial in having more information in one place. This way, when when the physician is face to face with the patient they have all previous visits notes right there to compare and see how and if anything has changed, progressed or improved.
The way we do IT
It all comes down to comfort
No patient wants to sit behind a computer while the doctors more focused on making sure not to make a mistake or forget any details while he/she is typing. This was the argument and concern the doctors I work for had. They were also against having a student or employee in the room typing notes for them, as most patients felt like they couldn’t be as open with the doctor. They didn’t feel comfortable discussing these sensitive and emotional topics in front of an essential stranger and didn’t feel that the patient/doctor confidentiality was there at all. It’s a private matter-especially when it comes to our health and especially when it comes to dealing with their illness.
Save time and have more information in one place
No need to worry about typing notes
✓ Efficient and convenient
✓ Maintain patient-doctor CONFIDENTIALITY
The Bottom Line
This method has successfully worked for our office for the last 10 years and I have decided to make a business out of it and offer our services in hopes that it can help and improve doctors and practices who need it. I wanted to first build a clientele to receive feedback on this. I feel that this is a great idea and service that is sure to improve not only the efficiency of an office but will also make the most of the time the physician spends with each patient. As a patient myself, I can first hand say that it not only discouraging but also frustrating to have to face a computer instead of my own doctor. Out of the 10-15 minute office visit, at least 10 of it was spent in silence as my doctor just typed away. It’s frustrating to have to stop what I am saying mid-thought for them to get their notes down and when I expressed this concern and shared the information about my services with my doctor, even she agreed and wanted to inquire more about this idea. I am excited and looking forward to working with you in hopes to improve the efficiency of your office and help you to provide excellent patient care.
“What is the benefit of this service?”
Our transcription process saves time for the doctor and allows them to have more one-on-one time with their patient.
“How does our transcription service work?”
The doctor writes down a new progress note or edits a previous visit’s note with adjustments, then gives it to us to enter into the EMR.
“I don’t like having a student in the exam room”
Patient-doctor confidentiality is crucial. Having a student in the room can be very uncomfortable and this is one of the main reasons why we started this transcription service.
Where do we work out of?
We work remotely and how the service is delivered is up to the facility. Some of our clients fax us the reports, and others ask us to come by the office and pick up the notes at a convenient time.
